Expectations

Mirrors

Expectation is something we must deal with on a daily basis at every encounter with events, people and objects. I have studied this phenomenon and the impact it has on self-image, behaviour and perception. What happens when an experience does not match our expectations? What significance does expectation have for our perception of objects? Can design be used to consciously guide them? Does the communication work only in one direction or can an object make demands on its user?
